With the return of war to #Lebanon, one reality stands out: generations have grown up amid recurring cycles of conflict and instability.
A group of Lebanese youths created a website that calculates how much of your life has been spent in wartime. For a 21-year-old born in early 2005, the result is striking: 46.3% of their life—nearly 10 years—has been shaped by war.
From the assassination of Rafic Hariri and the 2006 war, to internal clashes, the Syrian conflict spillover, the Arsal battle, the Beirut Port explosion in 2020, and the renewed الحرب in 2023–2026—this timeline reflects a life consistently overshadowed by violence.
And this excludes major non-security crises like the 2019 uprising, COVID-19, and the economic collapse.
At the center of much of this timeline lies Hezbollah’s direct or indirect involvement.
So the question remains: will the next 21 years look the same—or will anything change?
