Beirut Port is gradually recovering after years marked by the August 4 explosion, economic collapse, and war, with the launch of its largest container terminal expansion since its establishment—a $100 million investment.
The project will expand the terminal from around 45 to more than 75 hectares and increase its annual capacity from 1.3 million to 3 million containers by 2028. This will allow the port to receive more vessels and strengthen its transit and transshipment activity.
After handling nearly 950,000 containers in 2025, the port is expected to surpass one million in 2026. The investment therefore reflects both renewed activity and confidence in future growth.
