The city of Byblos has launched an unprecedented cultural project—the first of its kind in Lebanon—aimed at reconnecting its ancient history with the digital age.
The project will transform Phoenician heritage into the country’s first interactive digital museum, titled “The Grand Voyage of the Phoenicians.” The museum will offer visitors a fully immersive journey into a civilization whose roots stretch back thousands of years. The opening is scheduled for spring 2026.
Designed as an immersive cultural and tourism experience, the project transports visitors to the heart of the Phoenician world through vivid digital scenes: sculptors carving stone, merchants managing bustling ports, and explorers charting the seas.
Along this journey, visitors trace the rise of empires, the expansion of trade networks, and the birth of the alphabet that laid the foundations of writing as we know it. This experience is brought to life through advanced digital lighting, cinematic sound effects, and refined storytelling.
The project is being implemented by HybridXperience in partnership with the Municipality of Byblos and the Ministry of Tourism, and was officially unveiled in late 2025
