Syria produced 14.8 million barrels of crude oil in the first half of 2026, averaging around 82,000 barrels per day. It also produced 1.429 billion cubic meters of raw natural gas and 1.252 billion cubic meters of processed gas.
The Energy Ministry brought 152 wells back online and added 10 new wells to production. It also rehabilitated key gas infrastructure, restarted the main pumping unit in Homs after a 12-year shutdown, and prepared the Dabousieh gas station for potential supplies to Lebanon.
The recovery comes amid major changes in Syria’s economic environment. The United States ended its comprehensive economic sanctions program in July 2025 and began steps in July 2026 to remove Syria from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list. Meanwhile, the oil sector signed seven memoranda of understanding with international companies and three petroleum development contracts.
The figures point to a gradual revival of Syria’s energy sector, though production remains well below the nearly 380,000 barrels per day recorded before 2011.
