Lebanon yesterday inaugurated the “Eastern Gate” project in the departure hall of Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport, in a step reflecting the return of development activity to the country’s main air facility. The project aims to better organize passenger movement, services, and travel-related procedures, helping reduce congestion, improve passenger flow, increase the airport’s operational capacity, and modernize its infrastructure and services.
A new development roadmap for the airport was also announced, including the launch of a new project every three months as part of a broader plan to upgrade aviation infrastructure and improve efficiency. Although the Eastern Gate had been completed some time ago, its inauguration was postponed pending an improvement in the security situation.
It is worth noting that Beirut Airport continued operating throughout the war, despite repeated security and logistical challenges.
