Pope Leo XIV surprised priests from parishes in southern Lebanon this morning by joining a video call they were holding with the Papal Nuncio to Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, during which he greeted the people of the South and expressed his spiritual closeness to them.
During the call, the Pope affirmed that he is fully aware of what the South is going through, noting that he carries its people, priests, families, wounded, and all those anxious about their future in his prayers and in his heart.
The initiative comes amid the difficult circumstances facing southern Lebanon, offering priests spiritual support and encouraging them to continue their mission and stand by the people.
