Yesterday’s scenes in Nabatieh show the south’s need for security

With rice and roses, the people of Nabatieh welcomed the Lebanese Army after calling for a stronger military presence, a scene reflecting what the South should be.

What happened in Nabatieh should extend across the South. As Hezbollah’s influence declines, the state must reclaim control over security, territory, and national decisions after years of war, destruction, and displacement.

Against any Israeli attack, real resistance lies in a strong state, a present army, and a unified Lebanese decision, not Iran-backed weapons operating outside state control.
