Trumps Gaza plan $2.45 billion then thoughts prayers and good luck

The Board of Peace, chaired by Donald Trump, has proposed a $2.45 billion plan for the first phase of recovery in Gaza. Spanning six months, it covers infrastructure, temporary housing, rubble removal, healthcare, roads and energy, alongside substantial security funding.

The plan includes 66 projects. Around $1 billion is allocated to infrastructure, while nearly $885 million would go toward security arrangements, including an international stabilization force, Palestinian police and disarmament programs.

But the proposed amount covers only a small fraction of Gaza’s needs. A joint assessment by the World Bank, the United Nations and the European Union estimates recovery and reconstruction costs at $71.4 billion, including $26.3 billion needed in the first 18 months.

The $2.45 billion plan therefore amounts to about 3.4% of Gaza’s estimated reconstruction costs. Its funding has yet to be fully secured and depends on donor contributions and developments in the territory’s political and security arrangements.
