NAQD’s investigative documentary The Two Prisons of Roumieh has been selected to compete at the Lebanese Independent Film Festival – LIFF 2026 and will screen this Saturday at 7:00 PM at Cinéma Le Colisée in Hamra. The film tackles one of Lebanon’s most sensitive issues by looking inside the country’s prison system and the wider failures it reflects in justice, administration, and detainees’ rights.
The documentary presents Roumieh not simply as a place of detention, but as a mirror of a broader system shaped by overcrowding, neglect, delayed trials, and harsh living conditions. Through testimonies and documented findings, it examines what happens behind prison walls and what Roumieh reveals about the state’s relationship with justice and with those who remain trapped for years inside a system that has yet to reform itself.
