Naqd wins the “Qarib” Award for Best Investigative Report

Naqd has won the “Qarib” Award for Best Investigative Report on corruption affecting marginalized communities, for its film Roumieh’s Two Prisons: An Investigation into a Two-Tier Prison.

The film exposes corruption and class inequality inside Roumieh Prison, Lebanon’s largest prison, documenting how it is divided into two contrasting realities: a privileged one for inmates with wealth and influence, and a harsh one for the marginalized, who endure overcrowding and forced labor.

Based on confidential testimonies, leaks, and interviews, the documentary reveals how bribery and lack of oversight allow the powerful to control life inside the prison, reflecting a broader culture of impunity within Lebanon’s judicial system.
