Lebanon’s Central Bank Limits Hezbollah Funding

Lebanon’s central bank has stopped direct payments to Al-Rassoul Al-Aazam Hospital and the Lebanese Medical Center in Hadath, tightening controls on Hezbollah-linked institutions after Iran’s Bank Saderat lost its licence on October 15.

The measure follows financial compliance and sanctions rules. Al-Rassoul Al-Aazam deals with the Iranian bank, whose liquidation is expected in early 2027.

Central bank employees retain coverage at both hospitals but must pay upfront and claim reimbursement.

Restrictions could extend to other sanctioned institutions. Officials are also considering cash payments for outstanding dues, under rules expected from the Finance Ministry.
