According to statistics conducted by Information International, a significant portion of the Lebanese population supports peace with Israel. The reasons behind this support or opposition may vary, but supporters largely seem to agree on one thing: Lebanon is exhausted by endless wars, bloodshed, and the constant smell of death — to the point that people have forgotten what peace and stability feel like. Today, many Lebanese appear to long for peace simply to finally find some relief.
As for the Shiite community, where the majority still rejects peace, this stance can, in many ways, be understood. There are victims, blood, and destroyed homes between them and Israel. Yet it has also become increasingly clear that Israel will not stop causing casualties, destruction, and devastation without reaching an agreement with Lebanon. At the same time, it has become evident that Lebanon is not capable of confronting Israel militarily. So the question remains: how long will this rejection continue?
