After all the killing, displacement and destruction Lebanon has endured, and despite the government’s decision to place all weapons under state control, Hezbollah is still transporting half a ton of explosives across Lebanese roads — and reacting to their seizure as if the state had confiscated ordinary goods.

The situation becomes even more alarming with MP Hassan Fadlallah’s call for the explosives to be returned, while the official response appears timid given the seriousness of the incident.

Half a ton of explosives was seized. An MP is demanding its return. The state now has to prove that its decisions are more than words on paper.

Those responsible — including anyone who facilitated the transport — must be held accountable, rather than allowing the case to disappear under political pressure.
