Israel has imposed new restrictions on residents of Rmeish, Ain Ebel, and Debel in southern Lebanon, banning individual travel and limiting movement to organized convoys along a designated route.
Residents must register with municipalities at least 72 hours in advance. All passengers, including children and infants, must provide identification, while vehicles and cargo must also be registered.
The convoys travel via Naqoura, escorted first by the Lebanese Army and then by UNIFIL, with identity checks and vehicle searches along the way.
Only three weekly convoys are allocated to Rmeish and one each to Ain Ebel and Debel, restricting residents to fixed travel schedules.
The Vatican has contacted the United States in an effort to lift the measures imposed on these Christian border villages.
