In just 7 months we have depleted earth’s annual resources

On July 30, humanity exhausted Earth’s renewable natural resources for 2026, consuming in just 211 days what the planet needs a full year to regenerate.

From this point, the world enters “ecological debt,” using resources around 70% faster than Earth can replenish them.

In the early 1970s, Earth Overshoot Day fell near the end of the year. By 2026, it had moved forward to July 30, reflecting the growing gap between nature’s capacity and human consumption.
