Behind every destroyed home is a family that lost years of hard work, memories, and security. Some lost their homes or jobs; others were displaced repeatedly or are still waiting to return to villages they may barely recognize.
Residents of southern Lebanon, Beirut’s southern suburbs, and the Bekaa have paid a heavy price for Hezbollah’s wars, while Israel continues its attacks, occupation, and destruction of Lebanese property. Today, survivors are asked to remain patient in exchange for limited aid paid in installments, after many lost everything.
These families did not choose war or authorize anyone to gamble with their homes and children’s futures. They deserve to live in their communities and plan for tomorrow without fearing another displacement. Yet decisions to wage war leave them facing the same losses again. How many times can someone rebuild a life from scratch?
They deserve more than waiting for compensation: homes where their children can grow up, and land to pass on to them, instead of keys to houses that no longer stand.
