Lebanese authorities have arrested a person close to Hezbollah on suspicion of collaborating with Israel, after he was accused of providing Mossad with information that contributed to the assassination of several Hezbollah commanders, including four senior security officials.
He was arrested last week at Beirut airport while preparing to travel to Iraq and was later referred to the Military Court. Investigations indicate that the suspect, who is from southern Lebanon and married to an Iraqi woman, regularly travelled between Lebanon and Iraq and visited Turkey to meet operatives and officers linked to Mossad. He allegedly supplied them with information on targets inside Lebanon that were later attacked.
According to Agence France-Presse, the suspect had close ties to Hezbollah’s leadership, giving him access to sensitive information. The identities of the commanders believed to have been targeted based on that intelligence have not yet been disclosed
