Generator owners set their own rules the state seizes 61 illegal generators

Lebanon’s Ministry of Economy and Trade confiscated 61 private generators in one month as part of an inspection campaign targeting major violators across the country, in coordination with State Security.

The campaign follows complaints over pricing, meters, and billing, as Lebanese households continue to rely on private generators amid limited state electricity.

Since the beginning of 2026, the ministry has recorded 418 violations, conducted 16,668 inspections, received 1,498 complaints, and issued 786 reports.

However, it did not disclose the violations behind the confiscations, the areas involved, or the legal action taken against the owners.
