Despite the many crises affecting Lebanon, the Lebanese University has advanced by nearly 100 positions in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) sustainability ranking, one of the world’s leading rankings assessing universities’ performance in sustainability.
The university moved from the 301–400 band to the 201–300 band globally, among 1,646 universities from 116 countries.
It also recorded notable progress across several indicators, ranking first among Lebanese universities in reducing inequalities and promoting equal opportunities. It rose to 70th globally in the first indicator, while maintaining a strong position in quality education, ranking second locally and 59th worldwide.
This progress reflects the university’s improved performance in sustainability and education quality, while strengthening its presence in global university rankings
