Church affairs committee warns of declining Christian presence in Palestine

The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine has warned that escalating settler attacks, land seizures, settlement expansion, and restrictions on worship are threatening the future of Palestinian Christian communities.

The warning followed attacks in Taybeh, the West Bank’s last town with an almost entirely Christian population, including burned land and vehicles, threats to the historic Church of St. George, and concerns over further settlement expansion.

Similar incidents have been reported in Jerusalem, alongside restrictions on access to holy sites. Officials warn that growing pressure could push more Christian families to emigrate, threatening communities rooted in Palestine for centuries
