Israeli forces have gone beyond demolishing homes in the towns they control in southern Lebanon, treating the rubble as a resource to exploit.
The Israeli army brought in machinery to crush concrete and separate reinforcing steel from demolished buildings. Teams then collect the extracted steel and transport it into Israel.
Mais al-Jabal reflects the scale of destruction, with more than 5,000 homes and shops destroyed and only dozens left standing. Recent bulldozing also targeted a temporary school complex near Dubaieh Castle and nearby homes.
The Israeli army has also brought in trucks carrying explosives to rig and blow up the remaining buildings in areas under its control.
The destruction no longer ends with demolished homes. Even the rubble is crushed for its steel, turning the ruins of southern Lebanon into material for Israel to exploit.
