Lebanese man takes Israel to court over 600 stolen olive trees

A Lebanese man has taken legal action against Israel in France after some 600 olive trees were uprooted from his family’s land in Zawtar al-Sharqiya. He suspects the trees were stolen and taken to Israel.

Some of the trees were up to 500 years old, and his family has cultivated the land for about 250 years. The lawsuit brings a centuries-old inheritance from southern Lebanon before the courts, alleging that the trees’ uprooting, theft and destruction constitute war crimes.
