For those who didn’t know him this is the father Boulos Naaman

Father Boulos Naaman has passed away after a career spanning more than seven decades across monastic life, education, history, and politics, with his name closely tied to key moments in Lebanon’s modern history.

From helping establish the History Department at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik to serving as Superior General of the Lebanese Maronite Order between 1980 and 1986, Naaman also became deeply involved in political life during the civil war. He was a member of the Lebanese Front and among the prominent supporters of Bachir Gemayel’s candidacy for the presidency in 1982.

He lived through a defining period for Lebanon’s Christians, took part in its events, and later documented parts of that era in his writings and books. His social role also extended to supporting and sheltering displaced families during the war years.

With his passing, a chapter closes on a man who brought together the roles of monk, historian, and political actor, leaving a lasting mark on the Lebanese Maronite Order, Kaslik, and the memory of an entire era in Lebanon’s history.
