Voluntary return to Syria September 23 via Al-Aboudiyeh with 100$ per returnee

A new group of Syrians will leave Lebanon on September 23 through the Aboudiyeh crossing, as part of the voluntary return program run by UNHCR and IOM.

Each participant receives $100 before departure and transportation from designated gathering points to Syria. Eligible families may receive additional aid, followed by reintegration support of up to $600 per family after arrival.

The journey comes as aid in Lebanon declines, while jobs, housing, and essential services remain limited across Syria. The decision is therefore shaped by the cost of staying and the challenges awaiting returnees, while the financial support covers only a small part of rebuilding a life after years of displacement.
