Israel targeted 352 schools in Lebanon and 26 completely destroyed

Israeli attacks have caused extensive damage to Lebanon’s education sector, affecting 352 public and private schools, including 26 that were completely destroyed, and disrupting the education of more than 125,000 students. Of the schools affected, 239 were public schools, 20 of which were completely destroyed, while 113 were private schools, including 6 that were fully destroyed.

The destruction of public schools was concentrated in southern Lebanon, with 8 schools destroyed in Bint Jbeil, 7 in Marjayoun, 4 in Tyre, and 1 in Nabatieh. Damage also extended to 35 vocational and technical education institutions, 4 of which were completely destroyed.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Education says the destruction of educational institutions is not only a blow to the education sector, but also a major obstacle to the return of families to southern villages.
Rebuilding homes alone is not enough; families also need schools for their children and essential services that allow life to return to these communities. Rebuilding the South therefore also means rebuilding the conditions that make it possible for families to return, stay, and rebuild their lives.
