Farmers’ fields and orchards in Qlayaa were reduced to ashes after fires spread through agricultural land inside what Israel calls the “Yellow Line,” destroying crops and around 1,000 olive trees.
Seven to eight incendiary bombs reportedly struck the area, igniting fires across the fields. Residents and Civil Defense teams were prevented from reaching the land, forcing farmers to watch their crops burn from afar.
This was not the first incident. In July, wheat fields in Qlayaa caught fire after Israeli gunfire and incendiary bombs dropped by a drone. Agriculture Ministry data shows that around 6,600 hectares of olive groves have been damaged across southern Lebanon since the escalation began.
For Qlayaa’s farmers, the loss goes beyond one harvest. A burned olive tree means losing years of growth and production.
