Ismail Ahmad enters Guinnes as the oldest player with a triple-double

Ismail Ahmad, known by his nickname “Al-Somaa,” has entered the Guinness World Records after becoming the oldest player in basketball history to record a triple-double in an official game, at the age of 49. A triple-double means recording 10 or more in three different statistical categories during a game, such as points, assists, and rebounds, an achievement that reflects an exceptional all-around performance.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Ahmad began his career with Al Ittihad Alexandria before moving to Lebanon in the 1990s. He first played for Wardieh, then joined Sagesse, where he competed in the Arab Championship. He later built the largest part of his legacy with Al Riyadi Beirut, becoming one of the club’s most prominent and decorated players.

Ahmad also obtained Lebanese citizenship and represented the Lebanese national team in numerous continental and international competitions, leaving an extraordinary mark on the game over a career spanning more than three decades.
