Years after its global launch 5G gradually reaches Lebanon

The government has approved moving forward with the rollout of Lebanon’s 5G network, a long-awaited step that will begin gradually once the necessary technical and regulatory preparations are completed.

Although Lebanon is entering the 5G era later than most countries, with some already testing 6G, the decision marks a positive step toward modernizing a sector that has long frustrated the Lebanese public.

The service will not become available immediately, as the rollout requires investment, new equipment, and major infrastructure upgrades before users see faster internet, better call quality, and a more reliable network.

Despite the delay, the move could help Lebanon’s telecommunications sector catch up with global progress and serve as a model for reforms in other sectors, including electricity and water.
