Major U.S protestant churches recognize Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide

The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, one of the world’s largest Protestant denominations, voted overwhelmingly to classify Israel’s war on Gaza as genocide, following testimonies from Palestinians affected by the conflict.
The resolution passed by 454 votes to 15. The church also called for pressure on the U.S. Congress to impose an arms embargo on Israel, boycott products linked to the war, and divest from companies it says provide services or technologies used in Israeli military operations.
At the same time, the church reaffirmed its rejection of antisemitism and Islamophobia, stressing that its position does not target Jews or Judaism, but is limited to criticizing Israeli government policies and military practices it considers war crimes.
