The launch of the Jounieh–Larnaca ferry route has been delayed by a Cypriot decision, just as it was expected to return Lebanon to regular maritime passenger transport for the first time in years.
The first trip was postponed at the last minute, raising questions about the port’s readiness. However, according to the operating company and relevant authorities, Jounieh Port has completed all technical and operational preparations, and the delay is not linked to the port or the vessel.
Instead, it is tied to regulatory measures by Cypriot authorities as they complete Schengen-related requirements, pending the necessary approvals.
Meanwhile, ferry services to Turkey and Syria continue as scheduled, while the Jounieh–Larnaca route awaits completion of procedures on the Cypriot side.
