The U.S. Department of the Treasury, in coordination with the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC), has imposed a new round of sanctions targeting financial institutions and companies linked to Hezbollah. The measures focus on Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association and Bayt al-Mal, which Washington describes as Hezbollah’s central treasury, with the aim of disrupting the group’s ability to access the international financial system and evade existing sanctions.
The sanctions also target companies that Washington accuses of financing Hezbollah or facilitating its financial operations, including:
Tasheelat S.A.L.
Auditors for Accounting and Auditing S.A.L.
Experts for Accounting, Auditing and Studies S.A.L.
Additionally, the sanctions designate 16 individuals connected to these financial networks. Although they had previously been sanctioned by the United States, Washington redesignated them on the grounds that they had spent years facilitating hundreds of millions of dollars in financial transfers through banking institutions and front companies to circumvent earlier sanctions.
