Just three days after the Ceasefire took effect, southern Lebanon witnessed its deadliest violation of the agreement so far, as Israeli forces opened fire on civilians using a bulldozer to clear rubble and recover bodies from beneath a destroyed building in the Al-Deir neighborhood of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health and Civil Defense, the attack killed two people and injured several others while they were taking part in the recovery operation.
The violations did not end there. An Israeli drone also struck a vehicle in the town of Baraachit, while Israeli aircraft continued flying over southern Lebanon, Beirut, and the southern suburbs, despite the ceasefire being in effect.
Although Israel said the shooting was intended to eliminate a “threat,” the targeting of people recovering bodies from beneath the rubble is another indication of ongoing violations and incomplete adherence to the ceasefire.
