As #Lebanon enters direct talks with #Israel, the negotiations are no longer purely political or diplomatic — they are now military and security negotiations.
This new round comes as Israeli airstrikes expand beyond the Litani River and military operations stretch from #Nabatieh to #Tyre, #Sidon, and #Beirut’s southern suburbs. On the ground, escalation appears to be moving alongside the negotiations — and sometimes ahead of them.
The stakes are high. The discussions touch on some of the most sensitive issues in Lebanon’s security landscape: Israeli withdrawal, the deployment and support of the Lebanese Army, Hezbollah’s weapons, and the monitoring mechanisms that could shape any future security arrangement.
The shift from diplomatic efforts to direct military talks follows months of failed mediation and continued escalation, making this a potentially decisive moment in determining the future security reality of southern Lebanon.
