How beautiful it is to have money—especially in #Lebanon, where the saying that money can buy everything, even freedom, seems to hold true.
Once again, the #Military_Court has released two members of Hezbollah after around 50 days in detention, each on a bail of 100 million Lebanese pounds, despite being caught with more than 20 rockets and military equipment in their vehicle while heading to southern Lebanon to fight with the group.
For over a month now, the court has detained more than seven Hezbollah members after they were found carrying unlicensed weapons, ammunition, and grenades—only to release them one after another. This raises a clear question: why are they arrested in the first place if they are going to be released days later? In such a short detention period, these individuals are unlikely to change their stance or reconsider their involvement in Hezbollah’s military ranks.
Even more striking is the gradual increase in bail amounts—from as little as $10 initially to around $1,100 today. Whether this is an attempt to save face or not remains unclear. What is certain, however, is that just six rockets fired by Hezbollah have already dragged us back into Israel’s escalation. Anyone contributing to fueling this escalation must be stopped—at least until a comprehensive solution to the Hezbollah issue is found.
