95000 bread price jumps 35.7% at once

The price of Lebanese bread has increased again following a decision by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, which came into effect on September 17, 2026.

Under the new pricing, the large bundle, weighing at least 830 grams, now costs LBP 80,000 at bakeries and LBP 95,000 in shops. The small bundle, weighing at least 445 grams, is priced at LBP 55,000 at bakeries and LBP 60,000 in shops.

The increase comes amid higher bread production costs, particularly diesel used to operate bakeries and the cost of transporting flour and bread. While these factors were cited in previous price adjustments, the latest decision does not specify how much each contributed to the current increase.

The ministry also required bakeries and shops to clearly display prices and weights, with the possibility of future adjustments depending on production costs.

For Lebanese households, the cost of a basic staple has risen once again, with the price gap between bakeries and shops reaching LBP 15,000 for a large bundle.
