1.24 Million People In Lebanon At Risk Of Acute Hunger

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned of a worsening food security crisis in Lebanon as war and displacement continue and farmers’ ability to produce food declines.

The crisis goes beyond difficulties affording food. Farmland, irrigation systems and infrastructure have been damaged, leaving some farmers unable to access their land and others without their livelihoods.

With around 1.24 million people facing acute food insecurity, the destruction of agriculture poses a threat that will last for years, even after the war ends. Restoring food production requires rehabilitating farmland, supporting farmers and compensating them for their losses.
