<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the town of Jran, in the Batroun District, centuries-old oak and pine trees were removed from Plot 491 to make way for a hotel project.<br><br>Environmental protection laws require projects of this kind to complete the necessary environmental procedures, including an Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), and potentially an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in sensitive areas, before any work begins.<br><br>The incident has renewed concerns over the protection of Lebanon’s forests and the enforcement of environmental regulations during the licensing and construction of projects located in or near woodland areas.</p>
